Serones (Havana, 2011) is a Cuban group of exclusively pictorial creation made up of young artists: Antonio Álvarez Zayas (Havana, 1990) and Alejandro Pablo García Alarcón (Isla de la Juventud, Cuba, 1987) better known as Toni and Paolo. Having received different trainings, since the first graduated at San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts while the second is a self-taught, the duet has stood by developing a style of great plastic richness and density of meaning. Their originality lies mainly in the appearance they get by mixing acrylic, oil and other industrial resins that amalgamate with the game of textures and dribbles exquisitely managed. From the thematic point of view, Serones prefers the representations of natural landscapes which are devastated, powdery and rotten and expose contemporary world’s rot and abandonment. Despite their youth, this group has had several personal exhibitions and has participated in numerous collective presentations that have provided them national and international visibility. This group has reached several awards that recognize the important creative work that these two artists have been developing.
