This new appearance of that technique in his work into the series The Rites of Silence –up to that moment he only used acrylic and pelvina to achieve the textures and crackled–, was conditioned by the experimental work with the artist from Las Terrazas, Iván Martínez. Together they began to produce a type of non-conventional paper resulted of the materials that the artisan of Pinar del Río discarded as defective. That kind of manufactured paper really works on for Bejarano’s aesthetic procedures, who in his experiment, manipulated, crushing, humidified, etc., the leftovers according to the requirements of the specific work. After an experimental process with a rice resin, he pasted the pieces of paper over the canvases achieving volume, texture and another characteristic visual effects it will define the work of the artist in those years.
